Abhivyakti, the Subject Society of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, serves as a vibrant platform for intellectual, cultural, and social engagement. Dedicated to nurturing student expression, curiosity, leadership, and critical thinking, the society complements classroom learning through a wide range of academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. Throughout the academic year, Abhivyakti organizes seminars, special lectures, workshops, movie screenings, and national and international conferences on contemporary themes in the Social Sciences and Humanities. These events provide students with valuable opportunities to engage with distinguished scholars, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners, fostering meaningful dialogue and exposure to current academic debates and real-world issues. The society also celebrates important cultural and academic occasions such as Hindi Diwas, Freshers’ Welcome, Farewell, and its annual departmental festival, Mridang. The annual Freshers’ Party, Umang, warmly welcomes new students into the department, creating a sense of belonging and community through cultural performances, interactive activities, and student participation. Beyond academics, Abhivyakti organizes educational excursions, heritage visits, adventure trips, and outreach initiatives that enrich students’ learning experiences. Visits to institutions such as the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, National Museum, and other sites of historical and cultural significance enable students to connect classroom knowledge with lived experiences. Adventure and educational tours further promote teamwork, cultural appreciation, and personal growth. Committed to social responsibility, the society regularly undertakes community engagement activities, including donation drives and awareness campaigns, encouraging students to become active and compassionate citizens. Abhivyakti also publishes the annual departmental magazine, Agragami, which showcases students’ academic, creative, and literary contributions. Through its diverse activities, Abhivyakti fosters a dynamic learning environment that encourages students to explore new ideas, develop leadership skills, engage with society, and build lasting memories throughout their academic journey.
